Old School/Nostalgic 2000 GT-X Skyline

Or to give it it's full title - "Okada's Ken & Mary's Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X". It's the recent Aoshima kit in the "Shakotan Boogie" series which is basically a reissue of an old, simplified ex-motorised kit with the addition of SSR Mk.III rims, stretchwall tyres, front & rear spoilers and two different options for the front & rear.
Having said that I think it'll build up ok (it seems very similar in parts & construction to the red Skyline I built a while back which came out ok) - one drawback is that the bumpers aren't chromed so I'll have to see if I can finally get the hang of Alclad chrome. Anyway here's a primer pic (looks a bit odd as I managed to loose the roof in the shadow)

and one after the Zero Dodge Plum Crazy Pearl basecoat.

It's currently got Yayoi Slick rims but in the 2nd pic all 4 are the wider rims and I'm not sure if it looks a bit odd - trouble is I want the narrower ones for another project so I may use the kit supplied wide/wider rims.
Thanks for looking.

Looks great. I hope to be able to paint like you one day

I just started a Skyline CG110 as well... but from Fujimi.

Keep up the good work, hope to see it finished soon

Aoshima rims always look so nice, look on that car. Everyone seems to be sold out of that kit, you must be the reason,LOL. Cool kit, love the color.

Re: Old School/Nostalgic 2000 GT-X Skyline

Just a quick pic of the polished body & BMF work started - I've also painted the rim centres gold.
Sorry the pic isn't very good as taken indoors -as raining outside (again) - doesn't really do the paint justice.

Thanks for looking
Andy

dont go over any speed bumps with that "low" front end. Is it made to be like that or is it just for the shot? Other than that those wheels look strictly JDM! Nice car!

The chassis plate is such a tight fit to the body that I left it off for the pic as I didn't want to risk chipping the paint - the body is just resting on the wheels at the moment.

Cheers
Andy

Andy don't you ever take a break from modeling, i mean damn you could at least let everyone try to catch up. J/k Good choice of color, wheels really match the car. Keep us updated.

Re: Old School/Nostalgic 2000 GT-X Skyline

Just a couple of pics with a bit more progress made - all the BMF work's finished and the front & rear panels have been added.
All I've got to do now is try & Aclad the bumpers

Cheers
Andy
