Fuel Gague and Temp Gague Stopped Working
Does anyone have an idea what would cause both gagues to quit working. Started today, occasionally they will register than in a split second stop working. 1992 Nissan Pathfinder SE.
Electrical of some nature, replaced and checked all fuses. Help please. Thanks |

Hi,
I have a 1988 pathfinder and temp gauge and fuel gauge don't register. Schematic in manual shows common path to ground for these gauges. That path is connected to small silver box on circuit board that shows a small resistance. Some one in an archived thread mentioned a voltage regulator. Could be bad regulator or poor conduction through circut board..?? If you find a solution, would be so great. Need gauges in mountain winter driving! Thanks, J |

You are right.Your problem is the voltage regulator for your gauges. It is mounted on the back of your instrument cluster. Many manufacturers use a regulator to control these gauges.Reason for this is to slow down quick changes in ground. eg: you make a quick right turn and all the fuel sloshes to one side then back. The voltage regulator prevents the fuel gauge from going to empty then to original reading.
