Unhappy Transmission Problems?? Please help!

Hi, Everyone.

I have a 2000 Honda Passport. A year ago it broke down on the side of the freeway, apparently it was the transmission so I had it rebuilt. 2 days ago the check engine and check trans light came on when I was on the freeway. I could hear a high pitch noise when I was in the lower gears and there was jerking during the shifting. I haven't taken it in to a shop to check out what's wrong but I am assuming it's the transmission again. Do I have to have the transmission replaced completely? Also I noticed that when my I have 1/4 tank of gas the low fuel light goes on and off on and off... then it causes the check engine light to come on. Please help me. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

No offense, but you're looking for a definitive answer w/o anyone here having inspected your transmission and its components. You won't know which direction to go w/o inspecting the tranny since you suspect that is the problem. Number of things could have gone wrong, but that doesn't help you unless you've done some initial work so we have a baseline.

How about some info i.e. how many miles since rebuild, have you been maintaining the tranny and fluid, do you tow, and have you had the codes read...etc.

Re: Transmission Problems?? Please help!

First go to an auto parts store and get the codes read, and have them check the alternator too.

Re: Transmission Problems?? Please help!

Did you get a warranty with the tranny rebuild? Have you exceeded it yet? You should not have needed any service in just a one year period, so if something failed, they should be responsible.
As for the fuel light/codes; get the codes checked. Sometimes it is just a loose fuel cap. If you don't cap it tight when you fill up, it can throw a code.
Be sure to let us know what you find out.

The codes make all the difference. It has so far for me.. I have the post on the P0758.. I might be out a total of $600 (worst case) in stead $3000 for a complete overhaul.
