1989 735il tune up help
What do you guys think would be a good tune-up list for a 1989 BMW 735iL (couldn't find it in the Bentley manual nor e38.org) Also a check list for parts that usually fail around 135,000 would be nice too

Re: 1989 735il tune up help
Would a 30,000 mile checkup (Inspection 2) be a good tune-up routine? The most expensive part seems to be the oxygen sensor for ~$100. Also I am guessing dealing with the timing belt is best left to the pros
This is where I am getting my ideas from:http://www.autohausaz.com/catalog/lo...Token=77189578 If someone has a better list of any sort, I would be very interested. Also what's a good (cheap but not sucky in quality) place for parts? Shawn |

-oil and filter
-gas filter -air filter -cabin filter -why replace the 02 sensor if it still works? Wait till you get a check engine light then do it. -spark plugs -top off all fluids, power steering, washer and coolant. -change your coolant if you think its necessary -brake fluid flush if you think its necessary -check rear fluid, if burnt or very dark change it with correct BMW fluid. Dont use pep boys crap. -rotate tires if need be, also set the correct pressures -check your brakes and replace if need be. -check all your lights inside and out. -Make sure all your accessories are working -Check your engine belts. Any cracks that you can see change them. -oil all lock latches and hinges -drive the car and see if the steering wheel is straight and the car drives straight down the road with out any pulling. -listen for noises -check C/V axel boots -check the front ball joints and tie rods by shaking the tire at 12 and 6 for ball joints and 3 and 9 for tie rods. You might wana have someone do that while your under the car looking for movement. -Also replace the copper o-rings that are on your oil and differential plugs. -check exaust for movement and rusted holes. -Check everything under the car and see if anything looks wrong or is broken. Same with the engine bay and interior. -check wiper blades and washer jets -make sure the rear defrost works or atleast gets hot. -check operation of all seat bets and latches. -I forget but if your car has plug wires you might wana change them. -DO a total car check over. Check every possible thing you can think of or see. |
