pouring out coolant

I have a 1994 Ranger that recently gushed out all the coolant, but not through the radiator. The fluid pours out the water pump as fast as I pour it in. Is my water pump bad, or is it something else? I never noticed any water dripping from wp before.

Re: pouring out coolant

You were the third person who complained about water gushing out of the water pumps from their respective vehicles the last couple of days. More than likely it is your water pump that's the problem. However, in many cases, often there are subtle symptoms when the water pump starts to go before getting to the "gushing" stage. Usually you'll start to see coolant dripping from a small drain hole. If it continues it may start making like howling noise, then possible vibration. You may even smell that distinct anti-freeze smell from within the cab.
