problems starting a 93 v6 auto

First of all i would like to say hi as this is my first post here,

now on to my question:

A little over a week ago i replaced my tranny, truck ran fine prior, besides tranny problems, umong finishing my project the truck wouldn't start, found that we broke off the crank shaft positioning sensor, so we replaced it, no luck, went and replaced the hall-effect sensor (a.k.a. ignition pick-up plate) still no luck, checked for spark, was getting spark but not continuous spark e.g. would turn truck over for a min or so and plug would only spark once or twice. so we checked spark at the coil, very faint and also not continuos, so replaced the coil, to no luck, i read about the notorious splice under the relay box and repaired, nothing, replaced my fuel pump, asd, and a/c clutch relay still nothing, i am running out of ideas. i am still having this spark problem with no idea why. the truck try's to start the moments it does get the spark. anu ideas. Much thanx for any help. I have been beating my head in over this now for a week and it's starting to drive me insane.

b.t.w. my pcm is making a high pitched humming noise when the key is in the "on but not start" position, is this normal or could it be the cause of my problems?

Re: problems starting a 93 v6 auto

Can you check for troublecodes? The dark green/orange wire at the coil should be primary voltage. It should stay hot during the cranking event?

The ASD relay supplies voltage to the coil--injectors--02 heater circuit. The computer won't ground the ASD relay unless there are signals from the crank and where applicable cam sensors. It may energize the ASD relay for a second or two during key on, but then it will stop.

Also without those signals, the computor won't switch the coil or injector ground circuits, during cranking. At least that is how I understand the system.

I had a 91 v-8 fighting all the issues replaced everything you are talking about and it turned out that it was a bad computer. If you scroll down to the next page you will see where I had posted my problems. It is listed as a 91 dakota wont start. It cost me $200.00 for a new computer
