how do i go about....
getting the miles on my car put back to zero? as you guys know i got that engine from the junkyard and had it rebuilt so its pretty much brand new. do i have to go through the DMV or what do i do? can i even do it?

Pretty much brand new doesn't work. No matter what, you have to keep your odometer where it is. Doesn't matter if you have a new motor, it still needs to be kept as is. The body, chasis, and everything else still has that amount of miles.

You can roll back the odometer, but it's illegal. You can also pull the fuse for the dash and that will stop tho odometer, but that' probably illegal too. Plus, you will loose your tach, speedo, power door locks and power windows.
So, pretty much, either you're stuck where you are, or you have to do something illegal.

i guess when i sell the car ill include the paperwork. if i dont ill have one hell of a time getting a good price for a car with 182000 miles on it.

lol, try that in a BMW... most modern cars have something built in to prevent odometer fraud... BMW's (at least mine) was/are digital.

I took mine apart because the odometer actually stopped working when I bought the car. It turns out one of the gears in it broke, and I had to replace it. I took the whole thing apart and had to re-gear it. I may have added a few miles to it at the time. Just to balance it out. I recommend NOT doing this, as it's all small parts, it's fragile, and not good in general.

Just buy a gauge cluster off ebay. One with lower miles and swap it in.
