Factory stereos
I have a 2000 z71 with a delco cd deck in it and was wondering if the new 2007 version with the built in 6 dic changer would fit (physically and the wiring harness)? It looks to be the same size..... Thanks for taking the time to answer a probie to this site. |

Re: Factory stereos
That is a very good question.. but not sure if it would be worth the price. Those radios are about $400-500 dollars. you can get a nice one from Sony for $300 or less.

Re: Factory stereos
I'm not real positive if it would work or not..but I do know that 03-07 factory steroes are some how tied in to the trucks BCM and memorize the vehicle's vin number so if they were taken from a truck to another they would go into LOCKED mode. I purchased a factory 6disc Bose player from ebay and had to pay about 70bucks to get the dealer to repogram the radio to work with my truck..also I think the mounting bracket is different because on my 2000 it had a pressure switch on each side of the stereo and once you pushed it down they slid out but on my 2003 it is bolted in instead..just my experience thought it may help.

Re: Factory stereos
I purchased a 2007 Silverado that came with a basic am-fm radio. Then I purchased a single cd with mp3 out of an 07 Yukon and attempted to change out the units. Like posted above the new unit shows locked. I am curious if anyone has another solution to get the unit unlocked. from what i have read online the only info shows that the units are somehow linked to the vehicles vin or bcm. from there i believe that the only way to reprogram is with a scan tool very likely at the dealorship. any suggestions?

Re: Factory stereos
I don't think it will physically fit. The radios on the 99-02 are single din which is about 2.5 or 3 inchs tall. The ones in the 03-07 are double din and are 4 inchs tall. I tried to go with a double din 6.5 inch touchsceen on my 02 and they told me it wouldn't fit.

Re: Factory stereos
The radios on the 99-02 are 1 1/2 din, not single din.
