Alternator Light Intermittent

1978 B and the last couple of times I drive it, the ignition warning light in the middle of the dash comes on.
It will go out and come back on during my drive. I've checked the belt and the connections. They are good.
Is my alternator going out? Is this something that needs to be fixed right away?

Re: Alternator Light Intermittent

Yes, there is a problem with the charging system, it could be a failing alternator or a poor connection. Some auto parts stores will check the charging system for free.
This subject is being covered in detail at http://www.mgexperience.com
There seems to be a few Bs showing the same symptoms.

Re: Alternator Light Intermittent

Check the alternator plug terminals. If they are loose or appear burned or pitted replace the plug terminals. It happend to me, replaced the terminals and solved the problem. Of course it could be something else, it's good simple first check.
