Rotate tires
Do you rotate tires front to back on the same side or criss cross ?

Re: Rotate tires
I criss-cross the fronts to the back and ten bring the front back.
Every 7k or so.

Re: Rotate tires
I do mine every 5k - probably depends a lot on the type of tires you're running too.
The Yok's that I have are notorious for wearing badly if they are not rotated every 3-5k; I do my lighter trucks every 5k, and my heavy diesel every 3k with great results. I criss-cross mine as well.

Re: Rotate tires
I have Bridgestone tires
I heard if they are radial tires then you should not criss-cross

Re: Rotate tires
Don't know for sure, I've done it for years without issue.
I do know that if I DON'T criss-cross, they start to wear badly on outside edges on the fronts, on ALL of our vehicles. Have all my trucks done at Discount Tire

Re: Rotate tires
I had directional tires, so I couldn't criss-cross. If I remember correctly, my manual said not to criss-cross.

Re: Rotate tires
oh I just found out that if you have radial tires then criss-cross is fine.
directional tires need to be on one side only

Re: Rotate tires
yea, now that I think about it, there may have been two diagrams in there stating which way to go depending on what type of tire you use.

Re: Rotate tires
If the tires are directional, there will be an indicator on the sidewall. Any other tires you should swap corners to rotate. Can't think of any reason why this wouldn't apply to non-directional tires.

Re: Rotate tires
I was informed that with the modern radial tires any type rotation is ok, as long as you dont have truly directional tires. I think the only "front to back, same side" is a hold over form the days when radial tires were first being manufactored here. Before my time lol. Andie
