Cruise Control not Working

Cruise Control not working, 1997 E-150, 5.4 l

Cruse control not working.
Dealer said "Amplifier" is bad.
Wants $375 plus labor.

Can’t find detailed information on the Internet on repair of the cruise control.
Have AllData account, but not very useful on the cruse control.

What is the "amplifier"?

Is it the same thing as the "speed control servo"?

Can the "amplifier assembly" be bought/changed separately or is it one unit, the "speed control servo".

Where can I buy the "speed control servo" or "amplifier assembly" at a reasonable price.

The Internet parts places do not seem to carry cruise control parts/electronics.

Re: Cruise Control not Working

I have a 1997 E350 that has a problem like that and it has been recalled by ford for a free replacement part, maybe yours is the same thing?
