Brakes Dragging

Hey guys I have a question about an ABS system on a 95 c1500 4.3 5speed. I recently put new rear brakes and drums on the truck as well as new rotors wheel bearings, calipers, and brakes on the front. What prompted this all was my wheel cylinders collapsed in the rear. After repairing the rear my front brakes begin to drag. I needed new rotors so I replaced the bearings and so forth. Now the passenger front wheel is locking up. It did it to me going down the road the other day, like to have put me in the ditch. I was half mile or so from home so I took it on in slowly, the whole time I could smell the pad burning against the rotor. Got home, that side was blazing hot. Took it apart, replaced the rotor and brakes. Checked caliper, piston operated fine. Put it back together and noticed the driver front was locked. I checked all my lines, fitttings ect, and decided to check the master cylinder. The front output connection was missing its inlet. Got new master cylinder, its still dragging. But now the system is throwing a code. ABS Code 36, irratic or missing wss or vss. Would the speed sensor on the outside of the tranny cause this problem, or is it the wheel speed sensor mounted inside the rear housing?

damn. call me old school, but this is why i don't like ABS.
it does help you stop faster, but it's hard to work on.

Re: Brakes Dragging

cmon folks, help me out. I have had this truck for 12 years now, and I am ready for it to be operable again. All the extra work I did was not on account of this problem, I have been trying to replace as much as possible recently, and I have no clue what to do for this problem.

Re: Brakes Dragging

When you replaced the rotors, did the new rotors have the ABS reluctor wheel installed? Perhaps you were given the wrong rotor or you need to reinstall the reluctor from the old rotor.

Also check ABS wires on the fronts.

Re: Brakes Dragging

I do not know if it had an ABS wheel reluctor. What is that? When I put the rotors on I don't really recall anything like that on the new rotors. I will double check the rotors for a reluctor, what does it look like?

Re: Brakes Dragging

I may be mistaken, but I think this truck would have only had rear ABS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Brakes Dragging

Nope, the truck has 4 wheel abs. I have not had a chance to look into the reluctor yet. I have been busy with the interior. I drove it today and seemed to be fine. The brakes were soft, I bled them out again, I am not confident the problem is gone. I should have time for it this weekend.
