Exclamation BURNING UP!! 97 Isuzu Rodeo AC not working

My ac on my 97' Isuzu Rodeo started making a whining noise while running. Shortly afterwards my ac began to blow warm air instead of cool air. Then the belts started melting due to my ac was "locking up". Any advice before I take it to a mechanic and get charged thousands would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like the compressor locked up, it happens. You will need a new one. The best bet is if you can find somewhere that specializes in car a/c's they are most likely to do the best job. We have one here in denver, dont know if other cities have them.

Best bet is to not mess with it yourself. If you want A/C you're just going to have to pay up. I'm a big time do-it-yourselfer and A/C is one of very few things I won't mess with.
