Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
Sup guys I own a 98 SH and got it slammed with an H & R sprt spring kit. Lowered it about 1.8 inches and the fool I got it from said camber kit was not needed. Well now its been about 9 months and already went through the two front tires. I took it down to a shop and found out i have a 2 and a half degree negative camber. So my question is, whoever knows, is the camber kit I get a simple ball joint or on the SH do i have to get upper control arms replaced. Arms or ball joint? I've heard either will work but heard that the ball joints are not as reliable under heavy driving. Need HELP PLEASE!!!Thanks guys SLOlude

Re: Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
i wouldn't think you'd need a camber kit with the h& sports. did you ever get an alignment on your car after you lowered it?

i didnt get an alignment.......which i know sounds stupid. So a simple alignment could take care of that much negative camber? If that's the case then I'll get it aligned and see what happens. Thanks

Re: Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
no, it wont' take care of the camber but it could eat up your tires pretty fast if you're not aligned right. what part of the tires are worn?

Re: Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
maybe this will help.... i lowered my car..... it squeaked, handled poorly, had 3.5 deg neg camber, and was raping my tires in like 200 miles. i put a camber kit on last week, got it aligned (today actually), and no more squeaks, handles like a ferrari (guessing, never driven one), and i am EXTREMELY happy with it now.
note: i had 3.5 deg neg camber with a 2.75-2.50 drop, however. your's wouldn't be that bad. |

The inside of the 2 fronts were worn bad. I don't drive like a grandma so my aggressive driving could be a huge factor. I know I probably need a camber kit, it's just people have been telling me there is no kit for the SH. Like the kit is just a ball joint on the upper arms that is replaced. And a few guys said they stopped selling it. If you knew what kind of camber kit to put it would help. Thanks

Re: Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
eibach camber kit x2
Summit Racing $129 each each kit does two tires the kit itself is two goofy looking bolts that replace the mount bolts in the upper control arm. then is adjusted by a wrench style dial on the protruding part of the bolt. i put them on my self. i work on cars for a living however. it's not that terribly hard, but if you didn't know exactly what you were doing, it would be a pain in the ass. |

Re: Negative Camber....PLEASE HELP!!!!
You need to get an alignment. They will adjust your toe, which also affects camber, and give you a read out on your camber. Just getting a camber reading without adjusting toe tells you nothing. When you know what your camber reads you can make a decision which (if any) camber correction kit you need. They come in different ranges for different amounts of adjustment.
Then install the kit and have it aligned again. Sure is a lot of stuff they don't tell you when you buy lowering springs! |
