Red face Cruise Control

Hi guys! i'm back, I having a problem with the cruise control in my 01 nissan sentra SE 2.0 (manual transmission). Sometimes it works perfectly but sometimes it doesn't hold the speed. I can turn on the cruise control with not problem always, but when I'm going to set the speed...after pressing the buttom a few times...it doesn't set it. But sometimes it does it perfectly....I don't know what is wrong with it. I was thiking, maybe a bad relay?...fuse?.

Thank for you help guys, everything else on the car is running good thanks God.

Re: Cruise Control

at what speed are you trying to turn it on at? It will only work on from a certain speed. Example, it will only work after 40mph not below. That is just an example. I am not sure of the function speed. I think it's around 35mph. GL..

Re: Cruise Control

That's correct, I'm trying to set it up between the right speed. 50mph to 75mph with the same result. For ex. today it was running great but this last saturday I had the problem once again with the cruise control.

thanks for the help "Fixurnissan"

Re: Cruise Control

well, a cruise control is a relay, fuse, switch, wiring, and "motor". i put it in quotes because i dont know what the hell it is. anyways. its run off of engine vacuum, and a leaking vacuum hose could be the culprit. or a leaking diaphragm inside the unit. that should point you in the right direction.

Re: Cruise Control

pull out the drawer that the fuse box is behind it. check the 'map' on that drawer for the fuse for the cruise control. if the fuse is good, then maybe you have a bad headlamp or taillamp bulb. when one of the rear taillamp bulbs went out, i couldnt use the cruise control when the lights were on. but with them off, i could. changed the bulb and its back to working.

Re: Cruise Control

I couldn't find any fuse related to the cruise control. =( The problem I'm having that the "SET" light is not coming on and neither the speed is holding, just sometimes.

thanks guys!

well, just start pulling out fuses one by one and see if any are broke. its a start. if they are broke, replace them.

there is infact a fuse for the cruse control. tomorrow, i'll take a pic of the map on that drawer, and show it to you with it circled from ms paint or something of that sort. iirc, its a blue 15 fuse.

Re: Cruise Control

Thanks Chiquae07, Here are some pics of the problem. I have the repair manual in PDF that I bought on ebay, but luckily for me the "CRUISE CONTROL diagram" file is corrupted or damaged lol...so I can't see where everything is, by any chance does any one has that diagram?...I wanted to check the whole system using the diagram. Yesterday I went to the movies and on my way there the cruise control didn't work at all, after I got out of the movie theater I tried it on the highway..and it was working...

Re: Cruise Control

so your cruise control works during the night, but not the day? that doesnt make sense. i forgot what thread i did this in for the pic pf the fuse box. just looked and there wasnt a cruise control fuse like i thought. o well. you can have this repair manual for free here. its for the 01 nissan sentra all models :

http://www.phatg20.net/index.php?opt...ileinfo&id=191

its in EL 170-175 are the diagrams.
