Do they sell...

replacement stickers with the letters for your keyboard? (Ok quit laughing) Seriously, I started using this wireless keyboard and mouse combo just after Christmas and now have noticed certain keys are losing their letters,( the i,o,l,m,n,and a little bit of the "a" key.) I did a Google search trying to locate something and it seems the only thing available is the actual keys. It also said that it was quite expensive proposition to replace the keys this way. I would think they would sell transparent stickers with the letters on them, don't they? Has anyone else been in this situation and found a cheap solution? My wife says I need to memorize the keyboard, but I can't seem to Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Do they sell...

I agree with your wife (sorry) but its good to memorize the keys. Perhaps a label maker could help? I dunno if they have completely transparent sheets available though you'd think they would.

Find a drawing of the layout of a keyboard and put it up on the wall. When I was taking typing class in 7th grade, that's how the teacher helped us learn.

Do it, you'll be surprised how fast it'll become second nature.

get a fine line sharpie pen and mark them yourself, just highlight the exisiting ghosts. or buy a new keyboard, maybe $10 to $15. BTW when i worked at the IBM plant if you didnt lock your office doors the night crew would come in and pop the key caps and rearrange them for you, something i hope my kids never figure out how to do.

Actually, I've been wanting to find the same items. The closest I've found is some oversize stickers from Carol Adams catalog, but they aren't what I want, sigh.

Memorise the keys, or buy a new keyboard - they're pretty cheap.

Really don't want to. This is an off brand wireless keyboard and mouse combo I bought at the local drugstore just before Christmas and I'm very happy and comfortable using it. Besides I would think the keyboard, purchased alone, if that's even possible would cost more than the whole combo did when I purchased it on sale. This doesn't go through batteries like other keyboard/mouse combos I've seen, so I really want to keep it intact.
One thing I thought of and wanted to run it by someone here who might know the answer. Are all keyboard keys fairly universal in size? What I had thought of doing was finding an old , no longer working keyboard with good letters and sacrifice those to use on my keyboard. Would something like that work?

Re: Do they sell...

My company used to make high end keyboards. Each key had a hall effect chip. The buttons were two color molded, that means each letter went deep into the button. You could wear half the button away and still see a perfect letter. but no more, the cheap membrane keyboards with screen printed buttons made our product uncompetative so we no longer make them. You could check out craft stores in the scrapbooking section. They have tons of letter stickers. You shoul be able to find something that would work. As for a scrap KyBd, The keys may have different mounting posts, so i would check the fit. Actually I think you should use a bunch of different size and color stickers. It would look like those ransom notes using letters from different mags. newspapers. LOL
