Question Catalac convertor Problems 88 town car

My catalac convertor is making a rattling noise does that mean its time to replace it? Its the one on the right side. 1988 town car 5.0 duel ex. Thanks Danny

I'd get 'em both replaced. As a general rule, I've always stayed away from the big guys, Midas, Aanco, Etc.. in favor of the Ma & Pa places. My last muffler and pipe replacement was under $150 on the F-250 dual short pipes. Had 'em terminate in front of the rear wheels for boat launching.

yeah time to replace them. the honey comb inside finally rusted off and is rattling inside the CAT.

Maybe I'll do away with both of them .and have a replacement pipe installed.
shop can't take them off but I can and the they can install the pipe.We have no auto inspection in Arkansas.

I guess it make it run any different huh? Danny

yes it will. it will run a lot better. no back flow back into the motor, more performance, better gas mileage. the exhaust will sound a little louder but if thats what you want, go for it!
