Question Silvia

Hey guys I was looking into engine swaps for an S13 yesterday and of course there is the usual SR's and CA18 and there has been much dispute over which engine is best for what. Well I was reading through some stuff and saw that some guy had bored his CA18 to a CA20 and had added 2 300ZX turbos is was wondering if anyone had any more info on how to do this thanks.

Yeah, you could do a sr or ca swap or you can be unique and do something like a RB25DET or RB26DETT (but I don't know if it will fit between the strut towers) might wanna find that out. or there is the VA motors

Yea i heard about the RB's and I like the idea of putting one of those in but its probably alot more expensive than doing an SR. What are the specs for the VA motors

Yeah the Rb's are more expensive than the SR's, but they have and are coming down in Japan, so they are getting cheaper here too. For an RB25DET (which is the motor I am going with) is between 4000-5800 plus instal. The RB26DETT is between 5000-6500 plus you are looking at 6000-10000 for instal, depending where you go and if you can find someone to do it.

I wouldn't go with the RB26DETT, because it won't fit in between the strut towers and you have to immediatly convert it over to a single turbo, or make a whole new custom front end. And the RB25DET doesn't have that much less of hp either.

If you are looking at doing this swap look at spending between 5500-8000 for the motor and labor and any other additional parts needed. If you don't want to spend that much then you should go with the SR20DET and it should run about 2500-3500.
