Post Replacing Fuel Filter on my 91 cutlass cierra

So I ran out of gas the other day... i then filled up the tank with 2 cherry cans, but when i go to start the car it just dies on me after a couple seconds... its like theres not enough gas getting to the engine??? so im thinking that maybe some crap from the bottom of my tank got halued up and clogged my fuel filter? anyways i bought a new fuel filter n now im going to try n replace... any help/advice on removing the filter n putting in the new one???

thx in advance.

Do it after the motor has been off for a while, and loosen the gas cap to release any pressure. Use a pan and release the filter nuts slowly as some fuel will come out. When my Ciera started hesitating I knew it was time to change the fuel filter.
good luck
