How to remove rear trans mount on 92 Lesabre?
Hello all, I am in the process of rebuilding both my wife's 92 LeSabre engine (done already) and transmission (completely disassembled and identified the problem, now preparing to disassemble another one for parts). The rear mount that holds the tranny near the driver's side broke and so I bought a new one. I just can't figure out how to remove it. I also really haven't tried yet either but it looks to the naked eye to be blocked by the steering system. Does anyone know what I am talking about?
Thanks PS. My wife's car would not shift into 3rd gear, but would go to 4th (OD) if you went up past 65 mph or so. I found that the 3rd roller assembly was in pieces and that the gear that goes around the center shaft and holds the clutches and steel was in three pieces (the one around the "cam" and rollers--there were loose rollers and another ground up part). I also found that it is almost impossible to find such parts for my tranny! |

Re: How to remove rear trans mount on 92 Lesabre?
I had that problem on my 93. It's a real pain to remove and replace. You are correct in that you need to remove the bolts holding the power steering rack in place so it can be pryed out of the way.
I also found that the mount I got from NAPA did not fit correctly. I had to return it. It's a real tight fit to get the mount in and out. You'll probably need to support the transmission with a transmission jack or equivalent and use the jack to position the transmission for proper installation of the mount. Good luck. |
