Dashboard controls turns off while driving at night

Gents,
I have just bought an E36 320i '96, the car is in excellent condition and i love it. the only thing i noticed while driving at night (lights on) is that some times the controls turns off, the speedometer, RPM, Heat, and Petrol level. all goes off, without affecting the car, the car keeps moving and even the dashboard light is still on. some times the meters goes back to live without doing anthing, and sometimes i need to stop, turn the car off and then on again. in other cases, i see the inspection lights turn on and off.
i had the car for almost 15 days now, and it happend almost 8 times so far, other than that it is perfect.

I am really confused whats happening. please help.

Thanks,

It possibly could be some sort of a grounding problem that is only affecting part of the dash. As the service lights normally only come on when you first start the car, it could be even some sort of fault in the ignition switch. I would either see your local dealer (could be a known fault) or even a Auto-electrician.

Also have a 1996 E36 320i, and I just love it!

Cheers
