Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

Hi,

new owner to a 98 rodeo.

looking to do a few mods....

do they make electric fan kits, and underdrive pulley kits for the 1998 rodeo?

Also, will a KN filter help with gas mileage? do they make those for the rodeo?

thanks.

Re: Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

most report a reduced mpg with a k&n type filter. If you have +100k on your upstream O2 sensors I would swap them out to get 1-2 more MPG.

Re: Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

Why would the gas mpg be reduced with a KN filter?

What if i got a drop in KN filter that goes in my stock airbox? is that better?

Also, what would changing the upstream o2 sensor do? You mean the sensor that is before the catalytic converter, right?

are the sensors crappy from the factory or something?

Do they make electric fan kits for rodeos? does anyone know if they even help?

Re: Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

after 100k any O2 sensor needs to be replaced (doesn't matter the make or model, Isuzu run rich, check your tail pipe for soot).

there are no kits for electric fans.

You can try a drop in filter and then report back here (many see a drop in MPG due to the MAF being coated with oil from the filter).

Re: Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

the 'soot' at the tailpipe is a normal condition of the combustion and emissioncontrol processes, and is not an indication that your isuzu is running rich, as it was on older vehicles.

if isuzu's did run rich, they wouldn't pass smog, and all modern emission standards are geared to lean running, which is one reason it is important to keep your egr system operational because lean run means higher temperatures which are then ameliorated by the introduction of metered amounts of fully combusted exhaust gasses.

It would be interesting, btw, to know *exactly* the components of that ‘soot’.

Re: Rodeo Electric fan and pulley kit?

My mileage increased with a K&N air filter. Sounds very mean too. 2.5 in catback exhaust will help too. If you search online or go to an isuzu forum like www.planetisuzu.com you can see how to put an electric fan in. I'm going to have to check out replacing my O2 sensors now.
