aftermarket suspension install DIY

ok... so i have a 2001 civic ex coupe.

i plan on swapping over the following parts:

- tokico blue HP struts

- tein s tech springs (1.3/1.4)
**OR**
- tanabe df210 springs (1.8/1.8)

- front and rear adjustable camber kit

I would like to know your opinion on which springs to run, i have both but i'm debating on if the tanabe's will be too low (or poor quality?) I plan on installing a mugen or spoon style lip kit which should decrease the ground clearance by another 1-2 inches..

Also (and more importantly), What other suspension components would be required to install this setup? Strut mount kit ($50?), strut boots?

Thanks!

Tein

You can reuse the boots & mounts for the most part. If they are cracked or worn they should be replaced while it's all apart.

cool, any particular reason as to why to choose the TEIN's? i heard front camber is pretty hard to correct on 01 civic, so not to drop it too low.

would i need to get any other parts to complete the install besides whats listed above? bumpstops have to be shaved a little. do i need tophats?

thanks!

Re: aftermarket suspension install DIY

for those struts the Teins would be good.. HP's are basically factory replacements. In order to correct the camber you need a camber kit. You can only adjust toe with out it.

You can cut some of your bumpstop to create more shock travel. I never cut them unless going more than 2in of drop. You resuse the factory "top hat" Remove the old shock/spring assembly and use a spring compressor (there are more ghetto ways) but the spring compressor is the safest.
