Stripped Torx screw on Nut kit reatainer

O god lord i have 93' S-10 Blazzy wit Vortec 4.3 CPI and i decided to replace spider assemble and Nut kit "with inlet/outlet fuel lines. Well all is well after reading manuels and how to's on here. Except for the number T-30 torx "star" screw that goes into the U shaped bracket that holds the inlet/outlet fuel line on that leads to the spider assembly. Its soo cramped back there that it indeed up getting stipped out. Ive tried everything, too small area for needle nose, vice grips, pliers ect, And both lines have cracks in them so they need to be replaced. Im on my wits end i have a snake dremel tool that im maybe going to try to either cut the head off, or make a slit for a flat head to fit, but im worried about makeing sparks and BOOM!! ,theres no pressure left in line and its been sittin for a couple days and i smell now fuel.

But i was thinkin of squirting W40 while dremleing so no sparks would fly. Ive tried useing a screw extractor but its too long and i cant get enough pressure with my habd to screw it in because of the firewall in the way
PLEASE help all you Blazzie owners thank you thank you

Re: Stripped Torx screw on Nut kit reatainer

same thing happened on my old 95. I used some type of easy out/screw extractor made by craftsman that fit over the entire bolt. it is shorter than a regular socket. the whole kit is about $30. I had to hammer it on and then used a ratchet to get it out. I think stripping that bolt is one of the worst things that can happen while swapping the CPI/nut kit. Adds a few hrs to the job.

You can give yourself some room and better access if you go ahead and take the plenum top off. Yep it's difficult when things go right.

yea if you get an easy out that goes over the entire bolt head, that you should be able to slowly wrench it out. That bolt is in the perfict spot. Theres only about 4 inches from that bolt to the firewall so your options are very limited. I assume you have the upper intake off since you are replacing the cpi and fuel lines. that makes it a bit easier.

Re: Stripped Torx screw on Nut kit reatainer

O yea the top plenum, and dist cap are off.... Good news i finally got it OFF!! I went out and compared bolt-out sets and bought a $30 set with like 11 different bolts. It worked, BUT i couldnt get it on good enough because there is no room to hammer it on, anyways i had to pry the BaSTurd off, which in turn left the threads in, put the new lines on and retainer and JB-weld it to the back, checked for leaks "none" and the bracket is on there like stink on shat lol good lord i tell ya for a hobby mechanic they say the job will take a couple hours or so, "Well they failed to mention, thats IF and a big IF, you have all the proper tools and NOTHING goes wrong. Like a small little T-30 torx screw stripped on nut kit retainer,
Well 3 days later, because of Work and stuff its all back together, well it will be tommorow morning when i wake up LOL thanks alot guys for all your help this forum rocks

Re: Stripped Torx screw on Nut kit reatainer

Yep, that little screw is one pain. Sorry you had so much trouble.
I ended up bending a short 90 on a Torx 30 screwdriver then beat the end with a hammer to swell it to a "30 1/2" so it would fit snug because the 30 size is a little loose. I also wire brushed the loctite off the screw before installing it because I believe there's plenty of residue still in the hole.
I agree with the picture instructions. If mine goes out again before anyone elses, I'll take some pictures.
