1997 Dodge Ram 2500 tune up

Hello to all,

I have not yet pulled off the dog house of this van for general inspection. I have a 1997 Ram 2500 with 318 V-8. I was wondering if there is a cap and rotor to replace on this one as was with my 1993 van of the same type.

Are there any words of wisdom on this vehicle that anyone wants to share?

Thanks to all who contribute!

Yes there is a cap and rotor.

The words of wisdom given will depend on your problem.

Ok thanks.

I was just curious if there is anything that tends to be trouble with these vans, as they get older. I'm really not having any specific problems. I'm just getting ready for a long trip this summer.

The intake manifold gaskets like to go bad and leak oil all over the top of the engine. The idle air control (IAC) valve like to gum up and stick. Other than those problems the 318 are pretty tough little engines.

Thanks for your insight. I'll keep an eye on those two items.

Take care.
