Bolt On Turbo Upgrade ? ? ?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can help me with a couple of things. I have a Mitsubishi TD04-19T with a Super 60 Compressor Wheel and Ported Turbine side. I was just wondering if I can put a bigger turbine wheel on or port out the compressor side and put a bigger compressor wheel in ? Which would I want to do ?

Thanks

Re: Bolt On Turbo Upgrade ? ? ?

19T defines the compressor wheel. The turbocharger model name should also be longer like
TD04HL-19T-7, where TD04 is the basic model, 19T the compressor and 7 the size of the turbine housing, here 7 cm^2.

19T is the largest of the TD04 series and capable of delivering air to almost 400 hp. If you still want to use a MHI turbocherger you can upgrade to the TD05 series, the KKK turbocharger used in Volvos latest R models is also slightly larger than the 19T.

Yeah, I was thinking of using the KKK Turbocharger, but the difference between the KKK and TD04 and performance is kinda minimal . . .
But is a TD05 a direct bolt on to the TD04 19T ? I was thinking of a T3/T4 as more of a direct bolt on, or am I wrong ?

Re: Bolt On Turbo Upgrade ? ? ?

None of them is bolt on, there is also a large number of flanges for the same turbocharger models. But when you come to the power outputs that you can't reach with a 19T you will probably also need a better exhaust manifold. Not to mention all the other parts that needs to be replaced.

T3 is old junk.

Hey guys Im trying to go all legal, but just have one quesiton it might sound stupid but is upgrading your turbo street legal? I have a 97 GST

Also My car is pretty much stock excpet for Injen Intake, but what are some good upgrades i can do to start off right. Im planning on getting a greddy evo 2 in a few weeks, and someone said something about down pipe. im going to research downpipes, but was wondering about good aftermarket parts while still being street legal, if its even possible with having more than 3 aftermarket parts installed.
