As an aside, for those that travel... is that you should avoid having large amounts of US currency getting near your luggage. Devices that are used by Border Control in a number of countries for random detection of contraband utilising swabs of the exterior of checked and carry-on luggage - these highly sensitive devices can detect traces of illict substances in the parts per million.

There are plenty of occasions where the swab indicates a positive result for cocaine but a physical search indicates a negative result - studies indicate that a large proportion of US currency at some stage is in contact with the stuff or with currency that has. Where luggage has been in contact with sums of currency this can result in positive results for traces of the stuff...
