Headlight Cleaning

My dad got me a headlight cleaning/re-clearing kit from NAPA. I tried it and didn't notice much of a result. I was wondering if anyone here knows of somethinng that I can use that will work (that doesn't involve baking my headlights in an oven, it seems too risky). Either that or where I can get some replacement lenses, as oppesed to a new headlight unit.

Also, does the extra money or Xeon fluid really make a differnce in our cars?

Re: Headlight Cleaning

No, its a little worse than foging. I think its UV damage and them getting tiny scratches and stuff after 70K mi.

Re: Headlight Cleaning

Sometimes I put vegetable oil on mine to clear them up a bit...it doesn't last long and I know it's ghetto but it looks good for the time being, until I get new ones. I heard you could use plastic polish too but I never tried it.

But ive heard of products just for headlights at walmart or something but havent ever used, you could always wet sand em and spray some high temp clear on em....thatd probably do it.

Re: Headlight Cleaning

hehe. i have the brightness of 4.5 gen, but the ease of a 4th..

the 93-97 camaros used sealed glass headlights that you had to remove everything from.. so i basically broke the seal, ripped out the light, and super glued a 9006 light into it...

same wattage, same size plug, everythings fine. ;]

Re: Headlight Cleaning

Well, the kit I had involved fine grit wet sanding and polish afterwards. Unless I srewed up the process somehow, it did't really work.
