DavidOff Longtail colours?

I am trying to trace the colour references used on the Davidoff cars run by GTC.I have spoken to some ex team members who pointed me in the direction of George Ray coachworks who originally painted the cars.Unfortunately George has passed away and nobody at the replacement company has any records from that period.

I have been loaned a piece from the front of the car to "colour match"the paint,but this has proved fruitless with the only option being to send to ICI/Dupont Head Office for further analasis.This,given the value of the piece,I am reluctant to do.

I make model cars in the little spare time i seem to have nowadays,1/32 Scalextric,and would like to create the GTC Davidoff cars.I did one a long time ago but used the standard Gulf blue but the real colour has a pearl effect mixed in.

Attached are some i've done before,some true liveries and fantasy.

Re: DavidOff Longtail colours?

Have you tried adding a pearl powder to the gulf blue? I would think that is your best bet, any automotive mixture would probably not look good because the flecks used would be out of scale. I've used metallic automotive laquers before and they just look wrong.

If your in the US send a close up photo of the part and see if MCW could mix it. He has quite a few colors and I had him mix up Prost Blue the same way. but doesn't ship out of the U.S. I've never found the right color to use for this model yet.

Re: DavidOff Longtail colours?

As a suggestion, why not contact the Davidoff PR/Marketing/Press department and see if they can assist?

Re: DavidOff Longtail colours?

Well when I asked Gulf for assistance matching the 1995 Blue, Orange & Silver I didn't even get a reply despite enclosing a stamped, addressed envelope.
But then nothing ventured nothing gained.

In the pat I've contacted PR/Marketing/Press departments of companies with spurious questions and they've jumped-through-hoops to help ....iy gives them a sense of purposr and achievement in their day! ;}
