2000 Expedition shifts HARD

Bought an 00 Expedition EB yesterday at auction with the 5.4 and 143,000 miles. Runs like a champ, but when I get on it, even a little, it shifts a LOT harder than it should from first to second. If I keep my foot out of it, it almost seems a bit sluggish shifting from 1st to 2nd. It shifts through the rest of the gears as it should. Any ideas? I don't really want to put out the money for a transmission.

Take it in for a full transmission fluid flush. When it's done right it can make a big difference.

On the F150.com. site they talk about a spring in the valve body that causes that problem.. my f150 does that too, and several other guys too.
said a dealer part,, drop valve body remove a snap ring drop put something and change springs.. etc.? any tranny shop guy would know whats up .
