How much gas is left when low fuel light comes on

Does anyone know how much gas is left in the tank when the low fuel light comes on in a '98 Blazer? I looked through the manual and it doesn't say.

id say about 5 gallons left when the light comes on. you normally shouldn't let it get below 1/4 tank. if you let get lower than that on a regular basis your running a risk of burning up the fuel pump.

Between 4 and 5 gallons sounds right (at least that's how my '97 is)
But, since 1997, the Blazer pumps are in a cannister that holds a little over a quart of gas, so that they won't overheat. This cannister stays full even when the tank is empty as the inlet for gas to the pump is on the bottom of the can, and it's sealed so that the pump won't drain the can, and the gas won't leak out.

That being said, I agree with ZL1power, and wouldn't drive around too long with that light on.

Turn the key to on without starting the engine and see if you don't see a "Low Fuel" light. I believe it's in the top right side of the cluster.

And it's been my experience with my 2000 Blazer that it comes on with about 2 gallons left.

I would think it would be less than that... Most S-10 Blazers have 18 gallon tanks and having 5 gallons left would make it come on before a quarter tank.
I could be wrong though, I'm just saying.

The low fuel light is the only way I know if I'm low on gas. My fuel gage doesn't work.

i had the light come on once and put about 13 gallons in it so that would mean that there was 5-6 left in the tank.

Re: How much gas is left when low fuel light comes on

look up you fuel tank capacity in the owners manual then next time the light comes on pull into the next gas station and fill up. subtract the amount on the pump from the amount in the owners manual to see how much you have left.
