Car runs with no key

Tis be a 98 eclipse rs 2.0 DOHC

it starts and runs fine, but to turn off the car, i have to put it into gear and stall out. why is this? while the car is running i can take out the key and still drive, but the steering locks up when that happens. is there a ground wire in the ignition thats cut? pics are most helpful

ground got messed up somewhere.

same thing happened to me, but I had to turn the headlights off to turn the car off. It's tedious, but start checking the wiring, two wires are touching somewhere or the ground is bad.

weird that you mention the headlights because, a shop installed aftermarket headlights and only the regular lights work when i turn on the high beams. if i turn offf the high beams the regular lights go offf.... if that makes any since to you.

take it back to the shop and tell them to rewire everything. I would bet if they messed up doing something as simple as wiring headlights, they were bound to mess with other wiring in the area...

i looked at the wireing and it look like it was done right,... but im not sure if the car did that with the headlights before. its a friends car, and he modded it before he even got to drive it... so ill have to ask him.
