FAQ <--- Q not G, Page.

hehe, anyways. Has anyone thought of creating a Frequently Asked Questions page? We had one in the G20 forum, and I was thinking maybe we could get one in here?

Opinions?

Yeah like a list of swaps, what you need and how easy they are. That would be great...

Well, as long as it's cool with the forum mods, I guess we can start working on it.

So, start posting stuff that should be added in.

MPFI Information

These are diections for DPFI to MPFI with Si parts.

complete intake manifold (TB, fuel rail, injectors, all sensors!)

injector resistor box

88-91 si ecu

88-91 si distributor

a few connectors from the Si engine harness and an si coolant hose to connect the manifold and the block u can use ur stock and cut it if ur cheap

its pretty easy! drain the raidiator and all then take off the intake manifold and put the si intake manifold on and rewire everything. dissconect all the plugs from all the sensors and the injectors make sure u diconnect the coolant lines from the intake and there is one bolt that holds the manifold to the block underneath you will not see it unless u know about it.

In order to convert your dual point injection DX to multi-point injection you will need 4 injector plugs, an injector resistor box, extra wire, and electrical tape(heat shrink is best). Also, when doing this conversion I would highly recommend soldering all connections and heat shrinking them. It is good to have an extra multi-point injection engine harness laying around to take plugs off of(injector plugs, injector resistor box plug, and distributor plug u can use ur stock dist plug if u cut one off another dx dist and use it to plug in but ull need a 2 wire plug for the ca sensor).

Pins B10 and B12 are empty. Unused pins can be taken from B2 or B11. Sometimes there is a unused wire at B12. Cut orange and white wires off at C1 and C2 and connect them to wires added at B10 and B12. Orange-B10. White-B12. Leave enough wire for next step.

Run wires from C1 and C2 on the ecu into the engine compartment. Label these wires for later use. Cut wires at A3 and A7 leave excess for later use. Run these wires into the engine bay and label them to be used later on .

Under the Hood

TPS and EACV plugs are too short and must be extended. Be sure to switch green/white and yellow/white wires on TPS since the dx turns the opposite way.

Injectors and injector resistor box

Connect the yellow/black wires from the two DX injector harnesses and run it to the yellow/black wire on the injector resistor box. Connect the yellow wire from the DX injector to the #1 injector (brown wire). Connect the red wire from the DX injector and run it to the #3 injector (blue wire). Connect the A3 wire to the #2 injector (red wire). Connect the A7 wire to the #4 injector (yellow wire). Connect the 4 red/black wires from injector resistor box to each injector.

Cylinder position sensor

Connect C1 to blue/green wire on cylinder position sensor plug. Connect C2 to blue/yellow wire on cylinder position sensor plug the rest of the wires are color matched for your dx to the si wires

List of seats that will fit eventually into a 4th gen

5th gen civic seats
All integra seats
Del sol seat

feel free to add to this list...

4th gen intragenerational design tweaks
88-89 Civic hatchback backup lights are a rectangle within a red border.
90-91 backup lights are rectangles that run the full height of the taillight.
Stock Si Hatchback has dual exhaust, body colored mirrors, and an open center on the headrest.
Sedan has a slightly larger hood gap.
DX Hatchback, 1991: Bumpers are body colored, but mirrors are not.
Front air dam (bumper) in 88-89 series changed from rectangular opening with body-colored painted line through the middle to 90-91 upside-down trapezoidal opening with a solid black grid.
Sedans and below Si-level hatchbacks in 88-89 had dual-point EFI (resulting in 92hp, 89lb-ft of torque). The Si hatchback and 4wd wagon had multi-point EFI resulting in 108hp and 100 lb-ft of torque.
88-89 corner lamps were solid orange, 90-91 were clear with an orange center area.
The taillamp assembly on sedans changed from (88-89) vertical bars to (90-91) horizontal bars.
1988-89 Instrument panel cowls are short and squarish, rear defroster and hazard buttons are positioned horizontally. 1990-91 models have a taller instrument panel cowl with softer curves, and the two buttons sit vertically.
Civic Si had black side mirrors through 1990, and switched to body- colored mirrors in 1991.
Civic Si's cloth seats were done in a much more subtle black/grey horizontal stripe in 1990 and 1991 than in earlier models.
In 1991, Canada gets a Special Edition:
Same dash, (consol and gages) as the 91 Si
Body coloured dual mirrors and bumpers
Grey cloth interior
1.5l engine, Pg multi port full injection
comes with rear wiper, wheel covers (13 inch), and rear trunk cover, body colored door trim (instead of black)
1990 model CRX Si has rear disk brakes instead of the previous drums. This upgrade includes stronger front calipers, a larger master cylinder and new rear trailing arms and disks.
The '90 model has a slightly stronger cam.

the whole 4thgenerationcivic.com is a F.A.Q. lol! i have been working on the engine section so that maybe there won't be so many repeat questions.

i'm still looking for swap links for the b16, b18, and b20....

You don't have to post to see your new avatar. Once it is changed, all of your previous posts are updated with the new avatar, so just check a thread that you've already posted in....
