Help diagnose...

There are never any puddles/drips under the car. It uses about 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles. I can live with this, but I would like an opinion as to what's going on there. There is no milky oil/tranny fluid, no drips, no wet carpet, no sign of external leakage. However, when it is first started up in the morning, there is plenty of vapor coming from the
exhaust for about 2 minutes. It obviously not normal. After that it goes away until the next morning. I can only assume that there is a pinhole leak in the head gasket that allows coolant to get into the cylider(s). But on the other hand, the exhaust is old and has holes in it. I can hear the exhaust air coming from the holes. Maybe water gets in there to cause the vapor in the morning. I am no pro though...Could someone suggest what else might be causing the coolant loss? It's going somewhere...thanks
