Electric woes: 'draining the life' out of my car

I have a slow current drain somewhere. The battery drains after a day's driving.
All components seem good (alt/new batt). The rear defrost stopped working,
likely because it was sitting around for the last 2 years . Must be some oxidation somewhere.
End of January, I disconnected most ground wires, cleaned them & put back on.
I also replaced the positive battery cable. The car ran OK for over a month after I cleaned the contacts. Mind you, even then, the stereo & interior lights ONLY worked when the headlights were turned on... (not normal)

Does sombody have wiring diagram? Is so, can I possibely have a copy? Sinple diagram to where
all the fuses/companents are conneccted to. will do.

I have a 1994 Pontiac Firefly, essentially
100% Suzuki Swift with a GM rebrand.
1.3L 4 cyl,. 4 door sedan.
The wiring should be identical.

Thanks

Re: Electric woes: 'draining the life' out of my car

Does the horn work? Check the Horn relay. They are notorious for this type of action in all types of vehicles. I looked in my Haynes for an electrical schematic. It looks like the headlight curcuit "could" power the radio/interior lights because of a "short" or loose wires/broken insulators in the "junction box". I'm not that good with electrical problems unless I see sparks or broken wires, but anything is better than paying Dealer Service Rates for tracking done broken wires.

Good luck

Re: Electric woes: 'draining the life' out of my car

disconnect one side of the battery. hook a 12v test light between the battery and the cable. make sure all lights are off and ignition is off. if it lights up fairly bright start pulling fuses one at a time until it goes out or gets really dim, that will tell you what circut is drawing the battery down. if light is real dim or out when you first hook it up then you have a bad alternator or battery. there are 2 fuse panels, one under hood with some big main fuses and the one under the dash
