Rear Speaker Covers
I need to replace the left rear speaker but I can't figure out how to remove the plastic grid first. Has someone done this before?

Re: Rear Speaker Covers
This was a post I did on another forum. Dated: Aug 8th of 2005
This should help some. Okay. I'll try to explain this as best I can. I have changed all the speakers in my car. For the back panel I don't know the about Intrigues with the fold down seats but I think it would be a lot easier. Anyway I have A stock GX with no fold down seats. 1)Go to the trunk and remove the third brake light bulbs (Just unscrew them and move them out of the way). Where the bottom seat meets the top half (the middle) you need to pull up on it make sure that seat belts don't get in the way. There are two black plastic tabs on the front bottom half of the seats pull on it to release the seat. 2)There are two bolts on the bottom of the top half seat. Loosen and remove. Now pull the seat up and out there are four hook like hinges that hold the top half in. 3)Now that it is removed there are four plastic tabs that hold the back panel in. They are a pain in the ass to remove and trust me you're going to break at least one but that's okay. Once you remove those damn tabs there will be two wires running the length of the panel remove it before yanking on the panel. Now if you haven't remove the third brake light bulb now is the time to do it. After all that fun removing the panel you now have access to the 6x9 speakers. There are four screws holding them in (torick is that how you spell it not sure lol). I didn't have any. I just used the allen wrenches. Keep in mind most 6x9's will not fit perfectly in that stock space. Do not try to mod if you are just trying to replace the stocks. That plastic I think helps with sound of the speakers. Turning your trunk into one big speaker box. 4)Now before bolting the speakers down test them to make sure that the (+ and-) wires are not crossed. After You have spent about 15 to 30 mins making sure that you have it right bolt it down and putting everything back should be in reverse order. Fun huh just for 6x9's lol.

Re: Rear Speaker Covers
Thanks a lot for your input. Boy, that sure sounds like a lot of work just to get to that rear speaker! By the way (I should have mentioned this first), I have a GLS with the fold down seats and the third stop light mounted outside the car in the air deflector. Hopefully this makes getting that panel out easier.

Re: Rear Speaker Covers
Yea it should be. You don't have to do a couple of steps. If you dynomat the trunk and buy some high end speakers to replace the stocks should sound great. And a couple 10's or 12's wouldn't hurt. lol
