Tom's Toyota GT

Here is my 1st completed kit since 1972. I just recently got back into this hobby. I did not add up the hours spent on this car. It was 1 to 4 hour intervals from March 2006 to August 2006. I entered it at Model Fest a contest held in Montreal Canada on March 4, 2007 and placed 3rd in Autos Racing catagory. All comments and or questions welcome. Thanks for looking.

Re: Tom's Toyota GT

Wow, and I thought I was bad in taking 1 year to finish a model, lol. Really nice job there! Like mentioned, the dirt looks great! Looking forward to more from you.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I have added a few more photos including an interior shot. BTW This is a box stock build with only paint, MSM carbon fiber and bare metal foil. opcorn:

Re: Tom's Toyota GT

Nice work! Thanks for sharing. That livery looks hard to apply! Did you have any problems with the decals?

Re: Tom's Toyota GT

Hello Gogfather23

The decals are very tricky. It didn't take me long to mess a couple up. I was able to order a second set since this kit is still in production. There are three areas of concern. On the hood the number 36 is about 7 individual decals that must be mounted on each of the louvers. The same applies to the strip set on the opposite side. Second is the decal set that cover the air intake on the body just behind each door. The third area which doesn't appear to be difficult is the CASTROL which runs diagonialy just above each rear wheel well. It was very tricky to get it right with even space, the door handles pose as a real obstical. I found that planning ahead, going very slow one decal at a time and a whole lot of patience wins the battle. Oh! and lots of decal setting solution.

Re: Tom's Toyota GT

Looks great! You did a fantastic job on those decals. They look perfect, and I know they were trouble (even before reading your post on them). Great work, and welcome back to the hobby - or at least the completed model aspect of it!
