Just Got My First Oil Change and muffler tip

Hello Everybody,
I just took my 2007 Aveo for my first 3000 mile oil change. I also ordered a new spare key [ I like having three keys]...total was $48 bucks for the oil change and a new key. The Chevy guys took me in at 4:30 pm and I was out by 5PM. So far its been three thousand trouble free miles. I have no complaints at all. This is a well made car. Just as good as any Jap car I have driven - in the same catagory.
I went to a muffler shop and had them saw off the skinny muffler tip and weld on a nice stainless steel tip...looks very sharp. You dont have to replace the whole muffler...just saw off the tip and have them weld on the tip that you want. You an go to the auto store and get a nice stainless steel one and they can weld it on for you. You will also have to use a fine blade to cut a bit of the bumper around the new muffler tip so that is fits perfect. It cost me only $45 bucks.

how much did the new key cost. do you have the key with the keyless entry buttons on it? (i know, it sounds ironic, a key with keyless entry on it). or do u have just a normal key? cus i got the key with the buttons built into it and i always wanted to get another one because i lost my spare but i was afraid of how much it would cost.

The replacement key cost $7 dollars! That's it. I made sure that when I bought my Aveo, I had no silly extras that simply fail on you at the worst moment: no electric windows, no moonroof, no alarm, no keyless key, no nothing. I want a car that works all the time with none of the electrical crap. If you only have one key left since you lost the other....get one made quickly. 'Pay a little now or pay a lot later'.

i wonder if i can get a replacement key without the buttons on it?

Isnt there a chip in the key for security????>>>>And buy the way my dealer threw in a complimentary oil change

The chip (immobilizer) only comes if you have the factory keyless option.. at least up to 2006s, not sure of 07's. And yes, you will pay through your nose for a replacement with those.

speaking of immobilizers, were those availible from the factory? because i tested my car one day by setting off the alarm on my car and i was able to start it up and drive it to work. anyone know offhand? just curious.

ok thank you ,i wasnt sure cause the key head was so fat .
