I have a 1996 Old Cutlas Supreme that throws no heat, just blows cold air. Its been that way for a few years now. Nor does it have any A/C. Its a good car, its got about 160k miles on it and we use it only to go back and forth to work. I would like to know what it could be?

Re: 96 Old Cutlass Supreme No Heat
It could be a plugged heater core, or the blend doors could not be moving. When you slide it over to hot, can you hear them move? Some cars you can't hear it at all, but most you can.
Feel the rubber heater core hoses once the engine's warm, is one side hotter than the other? Are both cold? Im assuming you've checked the coolant level? Do that and report back. |

Could be the blend door attactment is broke/not working.
You'll probly need to get under the dash and investigate for certain that is whats not working. Could also have a leak in line on the back of the HVAC unit, but this would make a constant hissing sound.

Re: 96 Old Cutlass Supreme No Heat
Most GM vehicles uses a vacuum to control the hot/cold blend door selector on the AC/Heat. The vacuum line is usually tied to the cruise control.
One thing to check is test your cruise control to see if it still works or not. I've fixed many ac/heat blend doors by tracing the vacuum hoses and found it to be detached or broken and connected them back and works. |
