What to Get

I need help deciding what to get. I have a 93 cutlass supreme. I know Im going to go with solobarics but I dont know too much about subwoofers. I want something loud with alot of thump. Im thinking of either two 10" L7 or one 12" L7. Would two 10" be better than one 12".

Any suggest would be appreciated.

Re: What to Get

If I were you I would just go with the new Kenwood 1200W 12's subs. Best bang for your buck IMHO. And yes, generally two 10's will be louder than one 12".

Re: What to Get

if you are only interested in thump and not deep bass, build a "fart box" ..... a ported or bandpass box tuned high (45-50 Hz or so)

Re: What to Get

Theres alot of 12's on the market that will put a 2-10 setup to shame. depending on brand and model, install etc.

Cutlass has a huge trunk and if your willing to shell out the cash for better sub. The RE-MT, Soundsplinter Rl-p, Incrimintor lethal injection, and ive heard good things about the MMats juggernaut. Any of those can be very loud and you can get lucky and find them on ebay everyso often for a good price.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: What to Get

I decided to go with one Kicker s1217 4 ohm 750/1500 Watts (Peak/RMS) in a vented enclosure. Now I need to know what amp to go with. I been told a 750 watt amp will do just fine. Do I go with a mono, stereo or multi channel, or do it even matter. I would rather go with a kicker amp since they were made for the solobarics.

Not anymore ... an amp is an amp. Since you have a 4 ohm load, might want to get a 2 channel amp and bridge it, to get the most out of your sysytem.

Re: What to Get

I like how everyone thinks that a company makes something specifically for there product. While there are brands out there that do make amps that are matched for power output, there will always be a better amp for your sub.

Re: What to Get

not really ... back in the day (1980's) many of the companies used DIN cables to interconnect components. It was a great idea, better than RCA's problem was they all wired them differently in an attempt to screw you into buying only their stuff. Adapters followed right behind them, and they really ended up just irritating most people

While someone might like the alpine type-r's, an apine amp might seem like the best decission. But there will always be a better amp thats suited for your setup.
