Hi there, newbie with a few questions

I found this site a couple of days ago and it's so cool!!!

Been trying to find an answer to this but haven't been successful.

Nail polish as a paint type.

One day when I was with my wife at Walmart in the nail polish section I noticed the cool colors and types of polishes. The scale looks pretty accurate too.

I bought a metal flake blue one that when brushed looked like blue flakes in a clear base.

My question is, does anyone know how to apply this to a model car??

I.E. What kind of thinner do I use, how much do I thin it? After priming the body what color base should I use and any other suggestions?

Thanks! Pardon me if I am asking a dumb question but I tried the search and there was no threads on this.

Welcome to AF! Nail polish is nothing more than lacquer paint, always prime first with white primer for most colors, gray for some, like silvers, blacks, medium to dark blues etc. Thin it with regular store bought lacquer thinner at about a 300% ratio, or the consistancy of milk to start with and work from there.

Prime the car with primer (like Veyron said) but then spray the car with flat black, silver or what ever colour you think the colour will show up best on, but use laquer paint. Thin the nailpolish with acetone. Then spray it on, until the colour and texture of the paint job looks right, when that is dry, paint the details (doesn't have to be laquer paint). If the paint job is dull, sand it lightly with 1200grit sandpaper and polish it.

This is what I think is the best way,
just remember, Enamels can go over laquers but not vice versa.

Thanks guys!

I'll give it a shot.

magicmanjk808, I'm from the 808 too. If I can recall someone was looking for a good store that sells Japan models. I know of someone here. Email or PM me for more info. Thanks again!
