Temp gauge stays all way to right, even when off, when cold
As stated in the title, the temp guage needle does not move; it stays all the way to the right, which would normally indicate overheating. It stays there all the time; never moves. I'm wondering the cause of this is a faulty temp guage or a faulty senser on the engine block.
I believe it has nothing to do with the thermostat. But, driving this way is surely not good because we don't have an accurate temperature reading. So, if the engine was, in fact, running too hot, we would not know that. |

Are you throwing any codes?

Re: Temp gauge stays all way to right, even when off, when cold
I should have mentioned this is a '92 Integra. I'm not aware that it ever "throws any codes". I'm not thoroughly familiar with the car; it belongs to my son. I drive it occasionally. The engine warning light does not come on.

maybe the gauge went bad. I think you can count the codes on the ecu. There is red led light that flashes. Don't quote me on that.

Re: Temp gauge stays all way to right, even when off, when cold
I presume ecu means Engine Control Unit. And, I'm sure getting readings from it require an electronic diagnostic or monitoring device to be connected to the engine. Obviously, such devices are normally only owned by service shops. So, without taking the car to a shop, I have no way of getting any reading of any codes.
My reason for posting the question in the forum was to see whether anyone knows what the cause of the erroneous guage reading might be, without taking it to a shop. |

you don't need a monitoring device. Lift up your passenger side rug and count the led light on the ecu.
