Get TCCM DTC's with code reader?

Hi,
Can I check TCCM DTC's with an obd2 code reader? It's 2004 Blazer. I know on the older trucks codes could be accessed by using a jumper and watching the lights flash. Not sure on the obd2 systems.
If it can be done with a reader, what codes would I be looking for?

Thanks

Re: Get TCCM DTC's with code reader?

I read my trans codes on my '97 with a OBDII scanner so if a reader that says it'll read OBDII trans codes, you should be OK.
The '97 manual lists DTC codes...
P0719, P0724, P0740, P0742 & P1860 DTC's for the torque converter.
The list is probably longer for an '04.

TCCM= Transfer Case Control Module.

Not sure about 2004, but a lot of the newer vehicles (OBD II) with the NV233 transfer case can be read by jumping the pins, and counting the flashes of the shift select buttons. The ones with the NV236 transfer case required a scanner. Again, I'm not sure of the changes made in the last couple years.

You will need a full capable canner to read out all codes on Body, engine, transmission, transfer case and abs codes.
They are all tied together on a network.
Some transfer case shift problems will show up on body pc and even engine or abs problem can affect transfer case shifting.
What is yours doing or not doing?
Any check or service soon lights on?

Re: Get TCCM DTC's with code reader?

Thanks all for the replys.
MT-2500,My 4wd system is not shifting into 4hi. I hit the button and nothing happens, it stays in 2hi. If I put the truck in neutral and hit 4hi, I hear the click under the dash and the 4hi and 4lo lights flash 4 times and then it goes back to 2hi. I am not seeing any dash warning lights,no check engine,no service 4wd. The fuse in the dash panel looks good. It's a 2004 Blazer with the 3 button 4x4 system.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Check all fuses and check the front axle actuater under battery vacuum.
On a 2000 with a 233 transfer case you can ground pin 13 on diagnostic connector and get TCCM codes.
But not sure on a 04 if it is the same.
Check tag on back of transfer case and post back what model it is.
May be 233 -236- or other.

OK, found the problem. Got a code 2 by jumping pin 13. Checked wiring found high resistance in the system. Turned out to be a bad ground at the encoder motor. Ground repaired and terminals cleaned. Now have 4WD joy!
Had help from a buddy who knows what he's doing.
Thanks for the replys. MT-2500, thanks for the pin 13 clue in.
