First 2007 completion. Revell Cobra.

Hi all. My first completed build for 2007 is this Revell 1/24 Cobra. It is loosely based on the Sam Feinstein racing Cobra. I filled in the vents on the side as per the pictures I found on the net. Tried out my new lathe on this build too. The aluminum wheel lips on the rims are turned aluminum. The mirror and the small flanges around the base of the rollbar are also turned aluminum. I also turned the steering wheel and painted it up as best I could in woodgrain.
The paint is a Subaru color, the closest I could find to match the pictures. The decals that came with the kit are Cartograph and went down beautifully. Lost the taillight lenses and had to make new ones. The plate is a little joke as one of my friends has an FFR Cobra in his garage that he is building. Sorry my photography skills are a little rusty and the compression added by Photobucket makes them a little blurry. On to the pics.

Thanks for looking and comments/critisism welcome.

Mike.

Re: First 2007 completion. Revell Cobra.

I was thinking about buying this kit the other day. But the boxart looked more like a toy. I proved that it will make decent model. Thanks for that. Now I need to get this kit as well.
Great Build. Did you face any problems during the project with the build?

Very nice model you have built. I have never seen a Cobra in this livery but it sure looks good and original here. Nice work with the lathe too, looking forward to future projects you will use it for as well.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I didn't run into too many problems other than Revells typical stuff, they aren't Tamiya's. Wheel fit and getting all 4 wheels to touch the ground were the toughest part of the build. I glued the hood shut, I save my detailed engines for the nicer kits. Other than that it really is a great kit to build. I think the decal sheet is worth the price of the kit.

Mike.

Really a great job. I though to do the blue version but I must say also this one seem fantastic, once built. Great job also on lathed stuff: amazing for the first attempt: I never tried to do rims or so, what kind of lathe do you purchased?

Looking great!
I'm doing same kit but in blue color. it' better than others new Revell kits because it's older Revell/Monogram kit.
Your decals aren't too transparent? Mine on blue color are.
