I looked through my GT40 books and couldn't find anything conclusive but I have this link saved of a GT40 Restoration. It has some detailed pictures and you might find something in here that will help.
Although it says Grandsport Corvette in the link it includes a GT40 restoration. http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gt/start.htm Particularly this page: http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gt/1036.htm Second picture down has a good view of the rear of the chassis.
