Hey all;
I'm thinking of dropping the car by the end of the summer. I've got "Tenzo R" springs. However, I'm thinking they're fake. Nowhere on them do they say Tenzo at all. They're purple, and that's about it, so IDK. I've been doing some research, but what would be the best? I want a 2" drop front and back. I got a camber kit picked out. I don't want to spend more than $300 for parts. But I don't want crap. I've been reading DropZone are bad. True? What is everyone here riding and how do they feel?

Re: Lowering Options
Eibach FTW. If I was ever to go with a straight spring setup, I wouldn't go with anything but Eibach.

Re: Lowering Options
Never heard anything bad about them and I know people that have them on various cars and never had any problems. And I've read about them in a few different places and they seem to be a very good spring, I'd buy them, and I'm very particular about my vehicle ride.
EDIT: They don't have a 2" drop, but a 1.7" drop shouldn't be much different. And I'm sure that's a "true" 1.7" drop. |

Re: Lowering Options
I would probably just go with adjustable coilovers and not waste my time on springs.

Re: Lowering Options
Theres a couple really good suspension articles in the writeups area. I would get springs, and I second the motion for Eibachs. Never heard one single complaint. I've heard good things about Ground Control's, they are the only coil over I would buy besides the Megan ones for 2g turbo cars.
Realistically though, what good would coilovers be? Sure you can adjust the ride height but would you do that much if ever? I know I wouldnt. Plus then you have to worry about it all getting lowered the same amount and not to mention it throws your alignment off every time you do it. Not worth it at all IMO. |

Re: Lowering Options
What I like about coil-overs is that you can lower it to what you like and/or want. Springs only give you one ride height, and I know when I lowered my car, we had to adjust it like 3 times before we got it right where I wanted it, then got an alignment and it hasn't moved yet. If you do decide to go with coilovers, go with Ground Control, that's what my Talon will be getting. Ground Control coilovers actualy are part Eibach, they work together to make the coilover, and that's why they're such high quality. IIRC, the adjustable part is from Ground Control, but Eibach designs and manufactures the springs.

Re: Lowering Options
Thanks for the good info. Like I said, I still have time to decide, but I will start looking at my options for it. Again, I'm not looking to spend too too much, and most coil overs I seen are $500 and up. Alittle too much there.

Re: Lowering Options
I believe Ground Control's are like $350, but then you'll need to get shocks to go along with them. The nice thing about GC's too is that they're specifically made for a specific shock, so if you're going to run a stock shock, you buy the ones for that shock, or for some KYB's, and so on. They're really application specific, that's a plus in my book.

Re: Lowering Options
That and you get the spring rates you want from GC's. Another huge plus.

Re: Lowering Options
I think Coil overs really just make life easier in terms of the height of your car. You can adjust it to whatever you want and if for some reason it's not what you like, to high or low, it is a pretty simple procedure to adjust them.
With springs it's basicly, whatever the spring is set at is what you get. If it's to low or not low enough, than your are SOL.

![]() If you really do have your heart set on springs though, many people are throwing Eibachs on their DSMs in my city. Pretty sexy drop, but I think KSport springs would be better. KSport offers a 2" drop, front and back, with a really good price. I plan on running KSport coilovers in the summer. Many people at the track like KSports more than TEIN, so that's the competition it's up against. I believe the website quoted a price of about $180 for the springs. |
