Re: can you convert the 2.0 sohc engine to a dohc engine?

Yes you can, it is a lot of work.
You need the complete head, FI / harnesses / computer , intake manifold, exhaust manifold, probably some other stuff.
You probably would want to start with a whole donor car and move the whole engine / computer setup over. If you put the DOHC head on the SOHC engine the 9.8:1 compression will reduce to about 9.2:1. This will reduce your power significantly. This would allow for use of a turbo charger though with about 7-9psi of boost.
You can't put the dohc manifold on the sohc head, won't fit.
You can put the Magnum Sohc Head on the Sohc engine though. You will need the exhaust manifold b/c the ports are bigger. Some have said you need the starter from the donor car, but I don't know for sure. If you put on a Magnum head and install an AF/X or MP computer, you should get about 150hp.
You can also put a SOHC Magnum intake manifold on any sohc but you may need to change the starter (gets in the way) and you will need some sort of electronic control to activate the internal butterfly valves.

If you are going to do this much work, replace the SOHC with a 2.4 DOHC and enjoy frying your tires from here to the middle of next week.
