Looking to buy a 240 sx......

What does the speedometer go to? and what is the best year to get? i was thinking a 95. i want to sell my avenger and get a 240 sx bc im tired of the shitty traction of my fwd car.... but please inform me on some info thanks!

There's not really a "best" year, though the '89-'90 is argueably the worst. Do you plan on doing an engine swap? Are you going to turbo the stock engine?

well it all depends on the cost of an engine swap. if its to much ill just lower compression and turbo the stock motor. could u give me an idea on how much an engine swap would cost? and where is a good website or place to buy performance parts for a stock 240? thanks

There's a whole bunch of stuff about engine swaps in the FAQ. As far as cost goes, you could spend up to $4000 to have a shop swap in an SR20DET, though if your willing to do the swap on your own, you could probably do it for $2500, maybe a little less. 240sxmotoring.com and phase2motortrend.com are both great sites, but the aftermarket for the 240sx is huge (much bigger than that of the dodge avenger), all you need to do is a little toying around on search engines to get all the information you need which is what I suggest you to do before deciding on a 240. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of wheelspin on a FWD.

so get bigger wheels, or new tires...


personally, i think anyone whos first question is 'how high does the speedometer go?' should not be allowed to drive a 240... even tho the answer means nothing about the performance of the car

I agree, my speedo says 85, yet i can do 110 to 115. Check out the faqs for the swap info and stuff. Some interesting info in there.

Ofcourse it closely relates to the top speed of the car, why else would they put the high speeds in there? I think a 8 year old told me that once when he saw mine said 160mph.

Here's the thing, these guys reeeeeeealy don't like having to answer questions that are in the FAQ. Just so you know, Hahn's Racecraft does have a pretty good turbo kit for the Avenger/Sebring.

Pretty much. The way the KA24E is set up also makes it harder to do an SR20 swap. It's not that their inferior, I've seen some good boosted KA24Es, they're just a little less desirable.
