Question fuel gauge problem on E36

Despite how much fuel I have in the tank it shows empty the last several days. What might be the problem? Fuel sender unit?
Expensive to fix?

Also the SRS check light is on all the time, is there any way to have it fixed?

Thanks a lot!

Apparently the fuel sender units are prone to failing.
The fuel tanks have two cells each with a sender unit in it, therefore two sender units.

Some people say they have just disconnected the battery, then reconnected it and it has cured the problem.
Haven't had the problem myself, so can not confirm or deny this fact.

Hope this helps
