Maserati Mc12 Hiro 1/24

Hi guys !!!!
I've just finished the Hiro kit of the MC12.
Very cool kit, nicely cast , nice decals and wheels and shape.
Gives a good rendering of the massive aspect of the car (man is this thing really quick????)
I've chosen the red bull version, at least i'll have something of red bull in my collection. OOB, added some rivets, belts and few details her eand there but the kit is pretty well thought, and what you need to see is here as rivets, hood hooks (?) etc.
For the yellow, you'll need to cut up the decal a bit so it can fit on the side door especially on the little "ball" sorry for the terms don't know how to say it, so you'l have to put a bit of yellow here and there but nothing bad really.Use yellow 69 from humbrol it's perfect.
Otherwise no big deal, watch out the wheel axe, i had a symetry problem on the rear, one wheel a bit too high from the other.
The rhodoid part fit pretty good, careful with the driver window and do the pirelli template on the back AFTER you've bent the rear mesh. You'll see. the instruction don't tell it.

c ya later !! hope you like it.

Really nice build, I'm always impressed how you can make so many great cars so fast. Do you clear coat the decals?

That is one good looking model. Looks like the decals would be tricky but you made it look very nice.

Re: Maserati Mc12 Hiro 1/24

yeah I use TS13. I've noticed that the 1 or 2 cars I haven't clearcoated, especially on white cars the decals tend to yellow a bit....
thanks

Re: Maserati Mc12 Hiro 1/24

Nice build! I'm not a Red Bull fan myself but I always like their liveries, especially on cars.
The only thing that's weird is the position of the brake calipers. On the front they have to be horizontally and pointing to the back and on the rear they have to be diagonically pointing upwards to the front.

Cheers,

Stijn

Great looking model Manu.Nice work with the decals.I think the best word to describe the 'ball' on the side door would be 'bulge'

Looks excellent! Very nicely built. Will look great next to Tamiya's FXX.

Re: Maserati Mc12 Hiro 1/24

Hi,

nice to see a built model.

Concerning the rear brakes, yours tend to 8 o´clock, (looking at the left rear wheel), my ref. pics say 10.30 ;-)).

Finish looks a little bit dull, did you polish it? - I am not a friend of Tamiya´s TS 13, but what I saw on other models was a higher shine.

The verical segments of the diffusor are far to thick, did you use them right out of the box?

Rear left and right front wheel seem not to be correct/centered in the wheel wells, maybe you can correct it.

The yellow area is well done.

Great build, Manu!

She looks really mean!

(apart from that, I am in love with anything in a Red Bull livery)

Re: Maserati Mc12 Hiro 1/24

Diffuser is out of the box.
Concerning the use of TS13, yeah it's been polished and wax, but having a body shining like a mirror don't interest me a lot. It shines ok, to mo it looks more real. The one I saw i paris this year was shiny but not a mirror.
For the wheels centering, I've let some bigger hole, I still have to glue the wheels to make it ok.
Happy you like the yellow area

Manu, don´t get me wrong, I don´t just like the yellow area but the whole car. The points I mentioned caught my eye, so I wrote down my thoughts, didn´t intend to tear your model down.
